MARCO NONES’ CURRICULUM
Marco Nones was born on 19th February 1966 in Rheinfelden (Switzerland). When he was five years old, his family moved to Val di Fiemme, in the Dolomites of Trentino, in his parents’ motherland. During his childhood and his adolescence, he lived in Castello di Fiemme. where his grand-father taught him how to love and work the wood and the first artistic rudiments of sculpture. In 1984 he graduated at Istituto Statale d’Arte (School of Art) of Pozza di Fassa. Then he moved to Cavalese, where he still lives and works.
Thanks to the uniqueness and the peculiarity of his works, he could show them, over the years, at important exhibitions and locations in Assisi, Catania, Lugano, Genoa, Rome, Milan, Venice, Vienna.
One of the moments Marco Nones remembers with intense emotion is the presentation of his work entitled “The hope of Tibet”, representing the mystical flight of a hawk, to Dalai Lama, during his visit in Rovereto in 2011.
His “Angel in roots” is exposed in Vatican since 2004, in the foyer of Sala Nervi. In March 2008, he proposed 25 works, representing Jesus Christ’s life, in the unique and exclusive environment of the Sacristy by Bramante of the Basilica Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, during the exhibition “The roots of the Sacred”, passionately desired by the Domenican Fathers.
Marco’s artistic career comes along accurately with the meticulous exploration of human nature, which begins respecting the history impressed in the roots. This nature insinuates in the mystery of the soul, then clambers up among the branches committing to the afterlife. At the end, it comes back to the ground and creates land art works.
The love for the nature has made Marco become an established land art artist. In 2010 he was the only Italian artist to realize a natural installation’s sculpture, for Arte Sella, the international event of contemporary outdoor art that takes place in the flat lands and in the forests of Val di Sella, in Trentino. In 2011 he has planned the outdoor art gallery “Respirart Green&White Gallery”, in order to create artistic works assembling the gifts of the forests with natural elements (such as the ice) both in summer and in winter, in the frame of rhododendrons and ski slopes.
One of his most recent successes is the conquest, in August 2011, of the international Symposium of wood sculpture “Montagn-Art” in Thyon (Switzerland), with the work entitled “Le fil du vent”.
In November 2011, he’s been invited by Trentino Sviluppo to have a personal exhibition at the Italian Cultural Institute in Praha, through 70 works including drawings, photographs and land art installations.
In December 2011, he managed the ice disks exhibition on ski slopes “In the circle of thought“, dedicated to poetess Alda Merini, into the RespirArt Pampeago open air Gallery. He’s got a great success and national televisions coverage.
On April 26th 2012 Marco Nones founded the RespirArt Association (www.respirart.com) and invited new artists to release works of art in the Val di Fiemme’s nature.
On September 3rd 2012 he created the “Teatro del Latemar” land art installation that’s been inspired by the Dolomites’ peaks profile. A few days later, he began his public work “2013” in Varena to celebrate the Nordic Ski World Champiosnhips: according to land art principles, he overlapped a wood spiral and a chromatic scale trees spiral.
In February 2013, he gave an artistic mood to Nordic Ski World Championships Fiemme 2013 with his art installation “Ice Skyline” on Latemar. This work was sponsored by the UNESCO Dolomites Foundation.
Two Italian fashion companies have been attracted by Marco Nones’s style: Marina Rinaldi-Max Mara and Golden Point. The first one selected the image of his artistic performance ‘Gesto Rosso’ for the company website (2011); the latter invited him to create an ice installation (2012) for the summer beachwear campaign.
